Currently listening to:

Graeme. like Graham, but an older spelling. So,I guess I should talk about myself. Ew, gross.

If you don’t already know me or haven’t read my bio on whatever social media platform that led you here:

I'm a husband and father of three, though only one is still living at home. The others molted into abominable horrors and went out there to prey on things other than my bank account. I’m a horror and dark fantasy writer, author of The Black Crusade and Freaktown series. I made some hay on Kindle Vella but ended that publishing run. The only book that is currently available on KDP is Dark Lament, book I of The Black Crusade. Book II is in edits, and Freaktown is undergoing an overhaul before I republish. I’m also an artist, musician, and amateur knife maker and woodworker. I grew up in a house built in 1858 and it was most definitely haunted. Worse, whatever was there really had a boner for me. I’ve been to other supernaturally active places, even living in a demonically oppressed house for a time, but I’ve not had any real experiences for a number of years. I also grew up pretty poor, as a bit of a daredevil, and a klutz. Funny how living like this can ground you and how these things can work together to try to kill you many, many times. This all makes it into my writing, along with a perverse sense of humor that I’m sure is also tied to being Gen X.

Horror has always been my home, but I did try to make a run at fantasy. Dark Lament is dark fantasy, though I’ve always described the sub-genre as horror with a fantasy setting and tropes. I was too dark and creepy for fantasy readers. So, I’ve recently rebranded as a horror writer. This was well-timed with taking over a horror group on Facebook, once called Written Horror. We now call it Dark Fiction Addiction.

The goal with Dark Fiction Addiction is to create a horror community where fans and authors can come together to celebrate the genre, and all its many sub or related genres. The hope is that fans will find some great indie horror authors they might not have discovered on their own, and that these horror authors can combine their shared audiences and signal boost one another.

Uh, what else? I’ve been writing for 20 years. I have a BA and soon will have an MFA in Creative Writing and would like to teach the subject professionally. I’m a big writing geek. Well, geek in general. I was raised on Dr. Who, Star Wars, Monster Squad, Marvel Comics, the Destroyer books, and Brian Lumley. I discovered H.P. Lovecraft through Lumley and I’ve never been the same since.

Currently, I am working on an occult detective/cosmic horror novel inspired by Sherlock Holmes and the works of H.P. Lovecraft tentatively called Laughlin’s Legacy. I’ll talk about it in more detail in another post. I’m editing The Iron Cross, book II of The Black Crusade series, writing a historical zombie short story for a charity anthology, and fighting the forces of evil and home renovation daily.
